U.S. Army Promotion

Tonight was a special Stated Meeting. 

The lodge was called from labor to refreshment, then... friends and family were invited into the lodge room to observe Bro. David Lopez's Army promotion from Staff Sergeant (SSG) to Sergeant First Class (SFC). 

The presiding Worshipful Master, Master Sergeant (MSG) Michael W. Schaefer, also a member of the U.S. Army  read the official promotion orders.

Bill Wagner gave the congratulatory speech and had the honor of "pinning" the rank on the new Senior Non-commissioned Officer.

Members of the military often are promoted in front of their peers and subordinates at their place of work.  It is however, the member's choice where the ceremony is conducted.  This was the first documented military promotion to take place at Franklin Lodge No. 11.

The presiding Worshipful Master , MSG Michael W. Schaefer, is not just also a member of the U.S. Army, he is Bro. Lopez's current supervisor and was 1st line signer on Bro. Lopez's application to join Freemasonry.

Bill Wagner, PM not only had the honor of "pinning" Bro. Lopez to the rank of SFC, he himself is a retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major (SGM) and was Bro. Lopez's catechism coach through all three degrees.

Congratulations Bro. David Lopez, NCOs lead the way..... Hooah!!!
